Frouwke de Vries

Frouwke de Vries is a senior legal and maritime professional with an international profile in inland navigation, transport law and association management. Since 2019, she has served as Secretary General of IVR, the pan-European organisation representing the mutual interests of inland navigation and insurance. She is also Vice President of the Dutch Transport Law Association, Strategic Advisor to the European Barge Union (EBU), and a member of IUMI’s Inland Hull, Fishing Vessels & Yachts Committee.
Frouwke combines legal expertise, strategic insight and governance experience, connecting industry, academia and policymakers across international stakeholder environments. She regularly speaks at leading industry and academic events worldwide, with previous engagements in Rotterdam, Berlin, Antwerp, Edinburgh, London and Singapore.
She began her academic career at Erasmus University Rotterdam as an Academic Teacher in 2011 and subsequently spent several years at its Maritime & Transport Law Department (Erasmus School of Law). She holds an LL.M. in Corporate Law and an MSc in Marketing from Erasmus University Rotterdam and has published a peer-reviewed scientific legal article.
