Alec Russell

Alec manages the Marine Cargo team within Gallagher, London. He has extensive experience within Marine Cargo from both an insurance and reinsurance perspective. He has worked for the past 17 years in the London Marine Cargo market. He has focused on sectors such as Commodities, Automotive, Oil, Petrochemicals and Pharmaceuticals. Throughout his career he has helped clients navigate global challenges such as geopolitical conflicts and regional war and strikes risks.
This has included helping Assureds through Notice of Cancellations on numerous occasions and explain the nuances of different markets their interpretations and the links between insurance and reinsurance wordings in this regard. This has been to major international players as well as regional insurers.
In his current role he leads a team of 32 Marine Cargo brokers in London handling Assureds from over 55 countries around the globe.
