Jan Emblemsvåg

Jan Emblemsvåg has served in senior management positions in industry including Yard Director for Vard Søviknes, SVP of Ship Design & Systems at Rolls-Royce Marine and General Manager at Midsund Bruk designing and manufacturing advanced pressure vessels. Today, he is Professor at Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Director of a centre for nuclear propulsion at NTNU called SAINT, board member, consultant, author and speaker. His areas of expertise include operations management, cost management, life-cycle analyses and renewable energy including nuclear energy. Over the last six years his nuclear propulsion research has dominated his calendar. He typically takes a techno-economic-environmental view to develop solutions to challenges at hand. This is partly due to his industry background but also due to his research and PhD topic. He has written several books internationally available and several dozens of internationally published journal papers. He holds a PhD (1999) and M.Sc. at Georgia Institute of Technology (1995) in mechanical engineering (integrated product and process design) and a M.Sc. at NTNU (1994) in mechanical engineering although with more focus on production systems.
