Karla Scott

Karla Scott is Head of Ocean Cargo and Logistics at MSIG USA, where she leads the company’s cargo and logistics underwriting strategy and growth initiatives.
With more than 25 years of experience in marine insurance, Karla has held senior underwriting and leadership roles across all lines of marine. She began her career at Roanoke Trade Services, specializing in transportation and logistics programs, before moving into underwriting with Allianz, where she managed the West Coast cargo portfolio and expanded the company’s logistics capabilities. She later helped build Alterra’s national inland and ocean marine platform and, following its acquisition by Markel, served as National Cargo Product Executive. Prior to joining MSIG, she was Global Logistics Product Leader and Western Marine Leader at The Hartford.
Karla is an active leader in the marine insurance community. She has served twice as President of the Board of Marine Underwriters of San Francisco and currently serves on the Cargo Committee of the American Institute of Marine Underwriters (AIMU), the Finance Committee of the National Cargo Bureau, and the Cargo Committee of the International Union of Marine Insurance (IUMI), where she represents U.S. market interests.
She holds bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Communication from the University of California, Davis.
