Tiina Ruhland

Tiina Ruhlandt is Managing Director of EIMC and Senior Vice President at Engle Martin, where she leads an international team of specialists in marine insurance, supply chain risk management, surveying, claims adjusting, and subrogation services. With over three decades of experience, Tiina is recognized across global markets for her deep expertise in fine art, wine, perishables, soft commodities, and other complex cargo specializations. She is proud to be a newly elected member of the IUMI Loss Prevention Committee.

Born in Hamburg, Germany and raised across continents, Tiina brings a truly international perspective to her work. With a lifelong connection to the maritime industry, Tiina was introduced to life at sea through her father, a Master Mariner who sailed for over 20 years. She spent much of her childhood exploring cargo decks and ship corridors, an early curiosity that naturally evolved into a career in marine surveying. She began her career in marine claims in the early 1990s, and has since built a distinguished track record of successful client engagement across the U.S., Europe, and Lloyd’s markets. She has been called upon to serve as an expert witness and has been instrumental in managing high-value claims and risk consultations worldwide.

Tiina holds a Master’s degree in Art History with a Certificate in Museum Studies from New York University, and a Bachelor of Science in Russian Language and History from Georgetown University, including a summer program at the University of Leningrad. Her academic and cultural background informs her long-standing specialization in fine art and high-value goods.

A frequent speaker at international conferences and webinars, Tiina has delivered thought leadership on topics ranging from cargo loss control and fine art claims to wine logistics and disaster response. She is a recipient of the SmartCEO Brava Award and an active member of the Women’s International Shipping & Trading Association (WISTA), the Appraisers Association of America, and the Arts & Records Committee of the Inland Marine Underwriters Association.
